Procured and aged at the renowned Fromagerie L'Amuse in Santpoort-Noord, Holland, just outside of Amsterdam, each batch of L’Amuse Gouda is selected for us by L’ Amuse owner Betty Koster. It’s aged for over a year, allowing big crunchy flavor crystals to develop. Over the years, owners Betty and Martin Koster have built up the L’Amuse brand to be one of the more respected gouda producers in the country through their affinage, or cheese maturation process. They’re known for aging goudas at higher temperatures, resulting in greater complexity and dept in flavor their cheeses flavor profiles.
One taste and you’ll quickly realize that all Goudas were not created equal. Different regions produce different cheeses. L’Amuse come from the northern part of Holland, made from milk of Holstein cows. Pretty much a flavor bomb exploding on your tongue! Look for an intense, full flavored experience, offering notes of butterscotch, caramel, hazelnuts, and a firm tanginess to balance its creamy, slightly sweet profile. The finish lingers wonderfully. There’s nothing small about this cheese. Big flavor, big color, big crunchy flavor crystals and big finish. Try pairing this cheese with your favorite hot tea. L’Amuse Gouda’s big flavor profile will also hold up to spirits like bourbon and full-bodied wines like a Beaujolais.
